Consents Support
The Auckland consent system is not straightforward. Resource consent applications require a level of documentation that many designers underestimate, and building consent sets that come back with requests for information can stall a project for weeks if the responses aren't prepared with the right knowledge. Getting through both processes without unnecessary delays requires experience with how the relevant teams read plans and what they need to see.
We manage resource and building consent processes for projects across Tāmaki Makaurau — both for projects we have designed and, where the drawings already exist, as a specialist consultant brought in to manage the consent pathway. That includes preparing assessment of environmental effects documentation, coordinating specialist reports from geotechnical, acoustic and arboricultural consultants where required, and responding to requests for information in a way that closes the loop rather than reopens it.
We also advise on consent strategies at the feasibility and design stages — whether a proposal can be processed as a permitted activity, whether a notice of requirement would apply, and how the design can be adjusted to reduce the complexity of the consent pathway without compromising the project. Knowing the rules in detail at the front end is consistently more efficient than discovering them late.
